Rewiring the Old House for Noise, set in Texas in the late 1980s and early 1990s, is a humorous romp about Liz Mills's forced exodus from Washington, DC, with the help of a former lover, Joyce-Marie, and Liz's encounters, then, in Texas with a group of lesbians and straight women who gradually end up occupying or using as a focus for their lives an old house in Fort Worth, Texas, that a woman named Alma and her lover, Lotty, live in. "Noise" is the commanding metaphor here for the mess of contradictions among these women and how they negotiate all their differences with humor and irony.
