"All types of eloquence are contained in these letters."
-Voltaire
The Provincial Letters are series of 18 (and a 19th fragment) sent by French philosopher Blaise Pascal. They are critical of the logical methods of the Catholics, especially the Jesuits. In particular, Pascal ridicules casuistry as a means for justifying immorality.
A critique of the Letters by Hilaire Belloc, published the Catholic Truth Society, is included.
A table of contents is also included to more easily navigate the reply and many letters.
