Story Summary
Eating lettuce can make a rabbit very sleepy.  When the Flopsy Bunnies fall asleep in a grassy ditch outside of Mr. McGregor’s garden, the excited gardener sees the bunnies and carefully places them in a sack.  Flopsy and Benjamin Bunny save the bunnies and they fill the sack with old vegetables.  When Mr. McGregor gets home to his wife, he is in for a surprise!

About Beatrix Potter
Helen Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) wrote and illustrated many classic children’s books including The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies.  Childhood pets and her love for animals greatly influenced the characters of her stories.  Inspiration also came from her family trips to Scotland and the English countryside. Beatrix wrote Flopsy Bunnies in 1909 following the success of her first three books.  This story introduces Benjamin and Peter as grown rabbits with children of their own.
